We came to filmmaking as people who simply believed an important story needed telling.
Ian Findlay
Ian is an award-winning designer and photographer whose eye for composition translated naturally to moving image. Based in southwest Scotland, Ian brings a distinctive observational eye to documentary filmmaking. His expertise in composition and storytelling, combined with a gentle commitment to minimal interference and maximum observation, enables capture of beautifully authentic footage.
A Dairy Story marks Ian’s feature documentary debut. When not behind the camera, Ian continues his work in graphic design and photography at Findlay Design.
Lorna Young
Lorna is a marketing strategist specialising in the green economy whose understanding of factual storytelling and emotional connection shaped the narrative of A Dairy Story. With a marketing career rooted in early work in radio documentary and journalism, she recognises the importance of communicating stories of innovation and courage.
As producer of A Dairy Story, Lorna navigated the balance of documenting a working farm while respecting its operations and animal welfare. Her established relationships with the farm team facilitated the candid access that gives the film its emotional resonance.
Our Approach
Stories have the power to change minds, but only when they’re told with integrity.
We are drawn to projects that matter, not just to our clients, but to the wider world. The strength of our approach lies in creating space for authentic stories to emerge, stepping back, listening carefully, and allowing subjects the time and respect they need to reveal what matters most.
This approach has served us well in documentary filmmaking, and we bring the same philosophy to all our projects. Whether documenting agricultural innovation or helping organisations tell their stories, we believe the most powerful content emerges when the focus stays firmly on the subject, not the storyteller.
Working With Us
We take on a limited number of projects each year to ensure each receives the attention it deserves. Based in Dumfries, we have deep connections to rural economies and understand the unique challenges and opportunities facing businesses and communities here.
We believe the best projects emerge from genuine collaboration. We listen first, then develop an approach that serves your story, not our ego.
If you are doing meaningful work and need help sharing that story with the world, we’d love to hear from you. We provide the following services:
- Documentary production
- Corporate storytelling
- Brand films for purpose-driven businesses
- Audio content and podcasts
- Photography and visual documentation
